One of the most celebrated and highly sought after European football manager Pep Guardiola, is in the country for a private family Safari.

The outgoing Bayern Munich manager arrived in the country over the weekend via Moi International Airport, Mombasa. He was accompanied by his wife, Cristina Serra, and children Maria Guardiola, Marius Guardiola and Valentina Guardiola.

Mombasa County governor Ali Hassan Joho was on the same Emirates flight as the former Barcelona coach.

“He is really happy to be here with his family,” Joho told Standard “Pep said he will be here till the New Year but wants a low profile to just have a rest with family.”

Mombasa County Executive for Infrastructure Tawfiq Balala, who took selfies with Pep, also confirmed to Nation, “We were with Guardiola in Mombasa on Sunday, but he is here purely on holiday and needs privacy.”

Guardiola, who is linked with both Manchester clubs, then flew to Maasai Mara on a chartered flight and is expected to usher in the new year there. Bayern returns to action on January 22, so the tactician has a lot of time.
